1. What is a tissue?
A tissue is a group of similar cells which join together and performs a particular function. e.g. Glandular tissues in the stomach secrete digestive enzymes; cardiac tissues pump the blood etc.
2. What is the utility of tissues in multi-cellular organisms?
When cells combine and form a specific function, a division of labour happens. It increases the efficiency and productivity of the cells.

2. Where is apical meristem found?
Apical meristem is found in the root tip and shoot tip of the plant. They are fast-dividing tissues and cause the plant to grow in length.
3. Which tissue makes up the husk of coconut?
Sclerenchyma cells are elongated cells with lignified walls. They provide strength and protection to seeds and fruits. Coconut husk is made of these cells.
4. What are the constituents of phloem?
Sieve cells, sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem parenchyma, and phloem fibres make the phloem tissue.
